Hiking and Water Trails

The North Country National (NCT) Scenic Trail is 4600 miles long, meanders through 7 northern states and is one of eleven national scenic trails in the country.

The NCT stretches for 122 miles in the Eastern Upper Peninsula, skirting lake shores and river banks, wandering through northern boreal forests, and rambling along ancient ridges. Map information for the Eastern Upper Peninsula can be found HERE.

A hike along the Tahquamenon River at Tahqua Trail road provides spectacular scenery. You can hike for six miles or choose one of the shorter sections. There are several parking areas along this section.  It is an easy hike for all ages and abilities. Photos by Kathleen Joutsie
